A book with many intimate letters written by a loving son and brother. Includes reminiscences of Mulligan's daughter, Florence Mulligan Boyd, 1880-1980. There is also a pencilled note by David Sutherland on page 193 with a comment on the protective nature of Mulligan towards his family. Alfred B. Mulligan was a Charleston merchant who served in the Carolinas and Virginia until October 1864. The Mulligans were originally from Mullingar, Westmeath.
