Description: Contains a copy of a return sent to Col. John Wolfe of Forenaughts, Co. Kildare by Lord Castleagh, relating to the numbers of troops stationed in Kildare and its adjacent counties, dated 2 Dec. 1798 and described by Wolfe as 'very incorrect', and a return supplied by Lieut. Gen. Dundas' outlining the distribution of troops in Kildare, as of 9 Dec. 1798.

Also included is a memorandum, in Wolfe's hand, outlining his proposals for the stationing of troops in Kildare, the seizure of arms, the collection of information against 'agitators' and co-operation with local magistrates (dated 27 Dec. 1798).
