Summary:	McCartan discusses Tom Barry's proposals to end the Civil War, which were refused by Liam Lynch. He also states that a "rumor" that the Government blew up some prisoners in reprisal for "the killing of some Army men by a trap mine" and the execution of two Kerry men in Donegal has made "Kerry more anxious to fight". McCartan also describes Kevin O'Higgins as "the best friend the Extremists among the Irregulars have".
