Description: The letter describes an event that happened in the "late 1850", in the village of Collinstown, which "at that time and for long after was one of the most bigoted villages in the country". A man named "Talbot" who was a "public informer, and worse, he was a manufactorer of crime", after a riot in Castlepollard where Talbot was "stoned to death at Crookedwood as he was coming home from Mullingar".
