Notes: | Moore has written out the melody line with the text of the first verse and has added a note at the bottom of the page: 'I will send the remaining words in a letter. Send me the proofs of the 2nd no. of the Nationals immediately'. At the top left-hand corner he notes 'The first for No. 3 National Airs'. The second verse is written in another hand; a note in the top right-hand corner reads 'Recd Dec 27th 1819' and another at the bottom says 'Copied 26/9/20'. The whole manuscript is crossed through with a sepia coloured crayon. Between 1818 and 1827 Moore published several volumes of National Airs. Although the origin of the music is uncertain Moore identified them as being Indian, Portuguese, Russian, Scotch, Venetian, Italian, and Spanish.
