Among those writing to Downey are Lady Susan Dawnay (née Beresford), asking Downey to publish a piece in the paper refuting stories that there is a banshee in Curraghmore House, Co. Waterford (1934), and from a woman claiming be the wife of Prince Victor of Thurn and Taxis, written in responce to the paper's report that the Prince was married to Lydia Fitzgerald. Some reader's letters are anonymous.
