Circular from Connradh na Gaedhilge (Gaelic League) regarding a meeting to discuss having Irish as a permanent subject in the National University of Ireland, with draft reply on verso by Roger Casement,
1908 Dec. 23.

Casement's reply states: "If the University is not a poor man's University it cannot live. It is the well-to-do in Ireland [who] find Irish a stumbling block. The poor Irish student is not ashamed of his country or afraid of her language. If the University is to be built up by the people of Ireland then the Irish language must be its foundation stone".
