Summary: | O'Mahony writes of prisoners reading 'The Waterford News’ (then edited by Downey) in Belfast Jail, congratulates Downey on keeping the issue of conscription alive in the paper, refers to John Dillon's opposition to Arthur Griffith and Sinn Féin and describes his own experience of prison life, notably prisoner's access to Irish classes, daily exercise and concerts, so that ‘time passes joyfully along’. O'Mahony's letter is 15 May 1918. |
