Protestant descendency : a putt at the church
Featuring a caricature of the Duke of Wellington [shown on the extreme right, wearing tricorne hat with red and white feathers], leading a group of people who are pulling a rope that is toppling a church steeple; around the church are gathered a group people who a listening to a man who has a petition [underneath the group pf people are the words "Protestant Ascendancy"]. To the left of the image is a caricature of a very portly catholic monk, seen holding a candle in one hand while in another he leaves a trail of gunpowder behind him - the trail of gunpwder leads to a cave [labelled "Cave of Catholic Ascendancy] where barrels of gunpowder are present; the cave is located underneath the church [that is having it's steeple pulled down]. Beside title is printed "Published March 19 1829 by T McLean, 26 Haymarket where political & other caricatures are daily Published".
