Summary: | Circular lapel badge featuring the image of William Patridge; attached to card upon which is handwritten "William Patridge. / Member Labour Party / Dublin Corporation / Rising in 1916 / Jailed in / Dartmoor / Lewes / England". James Connolly sent Partridge to Tralee during Holy Week of 1916, to oversee the unloading of arms from the German arms ship the “Aud”; however following the interception of the “Aud” and the arrest of Casement, Partridge returned to Dublin in time to participate in the 1916 Rising where he fought in the College of Surgeons alongside Countess Markievicz. He was arrested and sent to Lewes Prison after the Rising and held until April, 1917. His health had so deteriorated while in prison that he died aged 45, just three months after his release in July 1917. |
