James Dolan was born in Glendalough, Co. Wicklow, ca. 1862/1863. He was the second youngest of eight children of Richard Dolan and Esther T(h)ackaberry. He took a voyage to Canada in April 1890 on the 'Sardinian'. In this talk, he gives a fascinating account of his voyage and the years spent in Canada. There are two records of a James Dolan disembarking in Moville from a voyage from Canada on differing dates in July 1895. That year suits, as he was married in Ireland in 1897.
