Summary:Duggan's letter may have been written following his release from prison in 1917, after which he holidayed in Meath. He writes of local politics in Meath, notably a local sporting event at which the republian flag was flying and hundreds of uniformed men marching through the streets of Trim. He includes a newscutting from a local paper which relates to the formation of a Sinn Fein Club in Trim and Duggan having addressed one of their meetings.

Notes:Duggan joined the Irish Volunteers on their foundation and fought at the North Dublin Union and later Fr. Mathew Hall during the Easter Rising. He was subsequently imprisoned in Mountjoy, Portland and Lewes prisons, was among those released in the summer of 1917 and successfully stood as a Sinn Féin candidate for South Meath in 1918.
