Summary: | Writing to Kavanagh from Longwood, Co. Meath on 28 June 1917, Duggan refers to his travels around Co. Meath, notably going to Trim where he meet with local Sinn Féin activists, his efforts to establish a Sinn Féin club in Longwood and plans to go to Co. Clare [Duggan travelled to Ennis for the by-election in July]. He also writes of his feelings on being releaseed from prision - 'stupified + dazed ... I felt bewildered mentally + tired physically' and requests that she make allowances 'for the abnormal state of my mind'. He signs himself 'Old Mat'. |

Notes: | Duggan joined the Irish Volunteers on their foundation and fought at the North Dublin Union and later Fr. Mathew Hall during the Easter Rising. He was subsequently imprisoned in Mountjoy, Portland and Lewes prisons, was among those released in the summer of 1917 and successfully stood as a Sinn Féin candidate for South Meath in 1918.
