Reasons for the unification include it posing a problem for Trade Unions with headquaters outside of Ireland; in order to act as a medium of contact and joint consultation between the congresses; to discuss with the British Trade Union Congress and the National Executive Authorities of Amalgamated Unions the feasibility of adjustments in administration; and also to ensure co-ordinated consultation with the Government.
