Summary: | Contains correspondence between Muriel Gahan and John Wylie, secretary of the executive committee of the R.D.S., concerning her proposals to 'do something positive about encouraging the blacksmith's farriery trade' (8 Nov. - 1 Dec. 1966), an undated typescript list of blacksmiths and farriers working in Ireland, a notice regarding the Society's initiatives to develop farriey in Ireland (April 1970) and a notice regarding a Bord na gCapall Farriery Apprenticeship Scheme (1971). Also included is a report, compiled by K. Gilbert of the Rural Industiries Development Committee, Belfast, on horseshoeing competition held in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, (Sept. 1968). |
