| Summary: | O'Brien writes that as World War I began, Connolly declared "his intention of organising an insurrection having for its object the establishment of the independence of Ireland as a Republic", about which he wrote soon after in the 'Irish Worker'. O'Brien details meetings and events from 1914 onwards until "the fight was on". He also refers to other leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising and organisations and publications of the time. |
