The authors write that the Rising "was not the first time in Irish history that the people redeemed in blood the disgrace that their leaders had led their country into [...] Our task to-day is to re-assemble the people once again behind the principles of the men of Easter Week, and in this work we look to your Organisation to assist us in making this Commemoration of Easter Week worthy of that great sacrifice".
