Cosgrave, and his views on the political situation in Ireland: "In a little while West Britonism will be again supreme". Archbishop Daniel Mannix was a close friend and admirer of De Valera who visited Ireland in 1925. During his stay he was was welcomed by crowds and spoke against the Free State and partition.
