The Koszta Affair (1853) was a diplomatic incident between the United States and the Austrian Empire over the imprisonment of Hungarian nationalist Martin Koszta who had taken part in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. Koszta had sworn his intention to become an American citizen prior to his imprisonment, and the United States claimed he was no longer under Austrian jurisdiction.
