A note on the front of the envelope [in William O'Brien's handwriting] describes its contents as 2 letters, dated 7th and 11th September 1894, from Robert Bontine Cunninghame Graham to James Connolly "in connection with a proposal that the former stand as Socialist candidate for Central Edinburgh".
Envelope printed with the address "The Times Book Club, London, England" and addressed to "Alderman O'Brien, / 77 Botanic Road, / Dublin".
