Letter from the Competent Military Authority to James [Daniel J.] McGrath, Irish Consulate, issuing a warning that if he does not leave the United States within three weeks then he will be shot at sight,
1922 Dec. 11.
|Main Creator:||McGrath, Daniel J., 1885-1942|
This letter is possibly written by members of The Irish Republican Army and is erroneously addressed to James McGrath when the recipient should be Daniel J. McGrath. The threat led to the closure of the Irish Consulate in New York and was supposedly in retaliation for the execution of four Irish Republican Army Officers on 8th December 1922.
