"A definite understanding that in all public affairs the Friends of Irish Freedom and the Clan-na-Gael organisation [crossed out] shall have control of such special work without outside interference but all suggestions or information from President De Valera furnished by him as the result of his thoughtful observation while in America shall be duly and respectfully entertained".
