Note by Joseph McGarrity on the split within Clan-na-Gael,
|Main Creator:||McGarrity, Joseph, 1874-1940|
McGarrity discusses how John Devoy was to apologise for negative comments made by him in the 'Gaelic American' regarding President Éamon De Valera, and that Clan-na-Gael was to fully support the Irish Republican Army and the Irish government. Instead, Devoy renewed his attacks on De Valera in the press, and Daniel F. Cohalan persuaded members of the Clan-na-Gael Executive to side with the Irish Republican Brotherhood instead of the Irish Republican Army. The members that agreed to do so were expelled from Clan-na-Gael.
