In the letter to William Crossin John L. Gannon mentions "Father McD.", "John" and "McC". In the letter to Mary Dillon John L. Gannon relates his visit to her father and states that he was not the one to suggest he write his autobiography.
Both letters inscribed on headed paper "Providence, R. I.".
Mary Dillon's letter is no longer extant (See MS 17,448/1 and MS 17,448/2).
