Summary:Poem was originally written in June 1915 by Thomas, and subsequent to his death, Muriel rewrote the poem for his sister Mary "one evening in the convent parlour". The poem is headed with: "Barbara / born 24th March 1915". On the envelope Mary has written "Tom's poem to Barbara / Muriel wrote it for me July 14 '16 / Don's hair, Tom alwaays carried it with him and Barbara's hair. Given me by her mother".
