Description: John expresses concern for his brother, Thomas MacDonagh, as he has "heard a rumour in Dublin that the signatories would be all shot"; he is also concerned about Thomas's affairs and his wife and children. He describes the prison and how the inmates do not speak to one another. He tells Mary to ask others to write to him and specifies to write only personal letters as they are censored.
