Summary:Patrick Moran was mistakenly identified as one of the men who shot Lieutenant Ames at 38 Upper Mount Street, Dublin, on 21st November 1920. He was taken to Dublin Castle on 7th January 1921 and charged with the murder of Ames and Bennett at 38 Upper Mount Street. He was put on trial on 15th February 1921 and was found guilty. He was transferred to Mountjoy Jail on 18th February 1921. This letter was written prior to his sentencing to death that day. He was executed on 14th March 1921. Annie Moran was a student nurse at the Mater Hospital, Eccles Street, Dublin.
