Lucy Carr Shaw's copy. Translated and with a foreword by Siegfried Trebitsch. The play first appeared in "Plays pleasant and unpleasant" in 1898. Lucinda Frances Shaw (1853-1920), to whom this book once belonged, was the eldest of George Bernard Shaw's two sisters. She pursued a successful career as an actress, appearing in plays by Villiers Stanford and Gilbert and Sullivan, before retiring in 1898 due to ill health. She also translated Strindberg's "Miss Julie" into English.
