Summary:Beaufort, writing in April and May 1816, refers to his own work, political matters and the state of the English economy. He also includes samples of wire gauze for his brother in law's attention. Writing on 24 June he refers to his decision to remain on as an officer in the Royal Navy. Edgeworth writing on 26 Sept. 1816 refers to the technical apects of a maritime survey of Ireland and Beaufort's refusal to undertake such a project.


Also included is a copy letter from Edgeworth in which he defends Beaufort's decision not to undertake the Irish coastal survey. Letter is dated 29 August [1816]; the recipient is unclear.
