Notes:The typed letter is written from Meadowbrook, Dundrum, Co. Dublin, and is addressed to the secretary, Office of Referee, Griffith Barracks, Dublin. Mr McMahon states that "Mr Jim Kirwan .. gave me most valuable assistance in procuring arms for the I.R.A. during the years 1920/21 ... During this period he was attached to G.H.Q. Intelligence Staff ...I have pleasure in recommending Mr Kirwan to your board, and trust he will receive the consideration ... he ...deserves." The letter is signed "Sean McMahon, late Quarter Master General".
