A note on the title page reads 'This small collection of Modern Book-Plates is representative of the various methods employed by the Swan Electric Engraving Company for reproducing the original drawings of artists - amateur and professional'. Tipped into the back of the volume is a hand-written index listing owner, designer and style. It is dated 8th October 1908. (MS 42,345)

The post of Ulster King of Arms, Herald of all Ireland, was created by the Crown in 1552 and continued under that name until 1943 when the Office of Arms was transferred to the Government of Ireland and renamed the Genealogical Office.
