Morning Mary is taking a bit of a punt today by posting two images of the same scene from the wonderful Eblana "upsidey downsie" collection. Since they are the same scene yet with great differences of population and activity we felt that together they would provide even more enjoyment?
This image with trams, pedestrians and activity in abundance provides a lovely contrast to the first!

Collection: Eblana Photograph Collection
Date: Catalogue range c.1870-1890. Likely c.1900s (electric trams, fashions, etc)

This has "2" in the title. I wonder if it is the same time as "No. 1" -

This does look like L_ROY_00001 above, [https://www.flickr.com/photos/beachcomberaustralia], dated in the early 1900s somewhere.

DUTC trams were electrified between 1886 and 1901, as these all are. The introduction of a printed destination instead of using symbols, occurred around 1908. So, 1908 - 1916.
