Crean describes dismantling weapons to prevent them being seized, and protecting National Volunteers headquarters at 44, Parnell Square. He also writes that members of the National Volunteers were allowed identify their colleagues who had been arrested during the Rising and that he had to explain to authorities the difference between the Irish Volunteers and the National Volunteers.
