[dates].
Bibliographic Details
Main Creator: Roche, Boyle, Sir
Summary:Writes "Having now a little peace and quietness, I sit down to inform you of the dreadful bustle and confusion we are in from these bloodthirsty rebels, most of whom are, thank God, killed and dispersed". "Fortunately, the rebels had no guns, but pistols, cutlasses and pikes, and as we had plenty of muskets and ammunition, we put them all to the sword; not a soul of them escaped, save some that were drowned in an adjoining bog". "There uniforms were all different colours but most of them green". They found "a bunch of French commissions, filled up with Irishmen's names". A copy of this letter signed 'Timothy Donovan' can be found elsewhere in the collection (MS 49,491/1/759) and it was likely used as a form of radical propoganda for which Roche was known.
