| Summary: | MS 49,575/1 : A letter to Mrs. Moore, dated 21st October 1948, regarding Cary's desire for another copy is 'Charley is my darling' and asking that, should she find one, if she would sell it to him. He also offers to send her any books that she might want herself, asks if "the broadcast" mentioned the scarcity his books and discusses upcoming reprints, etc., of his work. MS 49,575/2 : A second letter to Mrs. Moore, dated 29th October 1948, thanking her for sending a copy of the book (Charley is my darling) and sending her a first edition of his first book (Aissa saved) in gratitude. He is sorry that the broadcast disappointed her and discusses his feelings on his own works. MS 49,575/3 : A letter to Evan Owen, dated 15th July 1952, beginning "Your suggestion of a trilogy startled me. I had not thought of it – but it has its attractions". He asks Owen is he has seen the preface to 'The horse's mouth' and states it is intended to explain "something of the notions behind it", which he explains he rarely does because he does not want to devulve his entire life philosophy. He also expresses his desire to see Owen soon. |
