Summary: | Letters are mainly from James [?] Meade, his law agent and are generally concerned with the claims of William Lombard under the act of settlement, (Lombard had received a Decree of Innocency in 1662). Letters also refer to estate matters and quit rent charges. Some reference made to contemporary affairs including a letter written from Whitehall relating to the riots by apprentices in London 'having the liberties of the holy dayes', some reference to political events including papal relations with Venice. Other letters refer to the incorrect acreage of Shanakill in the Down Survey as well as the attempts by 'discoverers' on lands owned by William Lombard in Cork city. Includes a letter from the Earl of Clancarty about tenants. |
