Summary:Membership card for the Loyal National Repeal Association for Mr. Simon Donovan; numbered in manuscript hand '31,212'. At head of card is a quotation from 1788 by the Dungannon Volunteers. Illustration on card depicts the map of Ireland to the side of which are two flags, one bearing the words 'Catholic, Protestant, Dissenter, quis separabit?' To the furthest sides of card are texts concerning Ireland (in comparison with other European countries). At foot of card is printed a quotation by William Saurin: 'You may make the Union a law but you cannot make it binding on conscience'. Verso signed by "S. Donovan" and dated "16th Oct.".
