Completed certificate for member of Volunteers of 1782 Revived (Irish Volunteers). Text reads: "Volunteers of 1782 revived. M. Edward Dillon is a volunteer. This 29 day of July 1844 Tho[mas] M[athew] Ray, Secretary". Includes Repeal Association of Ireland embossed stamp. The image has portraits of nine historical Irish male figures framing an idyllic scene with a harp, instruments and shamrocks. Figures depicted and named in the drawing: [Irish High-King] Dathi, Hugh O'Neill, Patrick Sarsfield, Henry Grattan, Daniel O'Connell, Henry Flood, Owen Roe O'Neill, Brien Boroimhe [Brian Boru], Ollamh Fodhla, [and unnamed] St. Patrick. At foot of image: 'There is but one hope for Ireland - the restoration of her domestic parliament.'
