Dublin Castle, 23rd August, 1877 : whereas it has been represented to the Lord Lieutenant that ... on the evening of the 8th instant, Head Constable John O'Connors of the Royal Irish Constabulary, was fired at and grievously wounded by some persons at present unknown, whilst returning from Dalgan to Dunmore in the County of Galway ... his Grace is pleased to offer a reward of one hundred pounds.
