Reply of the French government to the Irish deputation.
During the revolution in France in 1848, Thomas Meagher, William Smith O'Brien and Edward Hollywood (representatives of the Irish Confederation) travelled to Paris, where they met Alphonse de Lamartine, who was French Minister of Foreign Affairs [from 24 February 1848 to 11 May 1848] and a leading member of the foundation of the Second Republic in France.
