Summary:Nelson discusses his pleasure in possessing the Marquis' place in "Mr Palmer's box" where he has encountered "some of the handsomest ladys at Bath". He states that he is "sorry the King is so poor" and that he hopes "all the nation will subscibe liberally" but that his own mode of subsciption will be "novel in its manner" and involve the sacrifice of "many comforts". He prays that the French may not be ready to leave Brest before the Vanguard is ready.
