Letter from Horatio Nelson to Thomas Lloyd, regarding his enjoyment of Bath and his intentions to continue to "serve my country" on the 'Vanguard',
1798 Jan. 29.
|Main Creator:||Nelson, Horatio Nelson, Viscount, 1758-1805|
Nelson discusses his pleasure in possessing the Marquis' place in "Mr Palmer's box" where he has encountered "some of the handsomest ladys at Bath". He states that he is "sorry the King is so poor" and that he hopes "all the nation will subscibe liberally" but that his own mode of subsciption will be "novel in its manner" and involve the sacrifice of "many comforts". He prays that the French may not be ready to leave Brest before the Vanguard is ready.
