Letter from Horatio Nelson, Palermo, Sicily, to the Marquis of Niza [Tomás Xavier Teles de Castro da Gama], warning him of the approach of the Russians towards Malta and expressing gratification for Niza's support,

Nelson warns Niza that 300 Russians will sail for Malta on the 17th, "therefore for heavens sake do not take a man from the island 'till their arrival". He tells Niza to keep the information private and praises his character as a sea officer, "second to none in Europe".
Letter signed "Bronté Nelson" in reference to Nelson's title, the Duke of Bronté.
