Summary:Item refers to receipts and expenditure of the new Catholic rent from the 1st of January to the 31st of December 1827 inclusive - "We have examined the above accounts, and vouch their correctness. P. L. Patrick, George Ness, John M'Donnell". At foot of sheet: "Dublin, 23rd February 1828. N.B.-- Any gentlemen wishing to have the details of the gross sums in the above account, can receive them on application to Mr. [Edward] Dwyer". Catholic rent was the name given to the subscription paid by associate members of the Catholic Association - the initial subscription of 1 guinea per year was later lowered from February 1824 (on the suggestion of Daniel O’Connell) to a minimum of one penny per month.
