Broadside printing of Bishop James Warren Doyle's open letter to the Roman Catholic clergy at Carlow who were engaged in disputes with members of the Bible Society of Dublin. First lines read: "I have only heard of a challenge to dispute being published in 'The Dublin Evening Post', wherein certain members of the Bible Society of Dublin propose to meet some individuals of our Clergy, in the presence of a select portion of the public, in order to discuss some question or questions previously agreed upon, and which are to relate, I suppose, to the religious belief of the parties to be thus engaged". 'I remain your truly affectionate and humble servant in Christ Jesus, J. Doyle, given at Edenderry on my visitation, this 28th day of August 1825'. At foot of sheet "Sold by R. Grace, 3 Mary Street. Price one penny".
