Francis Aldborough Prittie, [the Whig M.P. who was elected to represent Tipperary, from 1806 to 1818 and from 1819 to 1831] and the campaign for Catholic emancipation - "The act for suppressing the late Catholic Association, emphatically called the Algerine Act, was passed without a word from your late representatives". At foot of sheet: "Independence, civil and religious liberty for ever!! Diabulus ab aquilone" [the latter a reference to "Out of the north the evil will break forth on all the inhabitants of the land” - Jeremiah 1:14 (King James Bible)]. |
