Caricature shows two strips of land separated by a stretch of water depicting, on one side, Ireland as a famine-struck nation; on the other, the United States is represented as an affluent slave owner, offering the Irish peasant a large bag of money in support of the cause for Irish freedom from British rule but also depicting the maltreatment of slaves. First line of ballad reads: 'Come, Pat, kick up a dust, and I'll send you o'er a trifle; then away with spade and plough, and seize the pike and rifle'.
