He believes that this ill health '...is the penalty we pay for breaking certain laws of our formation' - 'Cholera is at hand, now water, beer and other kinds of drink, tobacco, tea and other stimulants make the system weak and bring on diarrohea and then cholera...our habits are deplorable in many ways as a people and as individuals, if we want to be a great success, let us welcome the firm sway of triumvirate, religion, temperance and British unity'. Remarks that "we Irish have fought and toiled and died to build up this vast and Grand Empire...". |
