Summary:Refers to the minutes of a conference between some Irish bishops and the M.P.'s responsible for the University Education Bill (Ireland), organised by the Rector of the Catholic University and held in the Catholic University Library, 28 and 29 January 1877. Includes names of people that were present: "The Most Rev. Dr. M' Gettigan, Archbishop of Armagh, and Primate; The Most Rev. Dr. Croke, Archbishop of Cashel; The Right Rev. Dr. Gillooly, Bishop of Elfin; The Right Rev. Dr. Conroy, Bishop of Ardagh; Monsignor Woodlock, Rector of the Catholic University; Isaac Butt, M.P.; Mitchell Henry, M.P.; John George MacCarthy, M.P.". - "The bishops expressed their desire for a Catholic University pure and simple, independent of the University of Dublin and Trinity College. Mr. Butt expressed his belief that this would be impracticable, and that it would be comparatively easy to obtain the incorporation and endowment of a Catholic College in the University of Dublin of the plan suggested by the Pastoral of the bishops in October 1871, and worked out in the Irish University Bill of 1876". Last two pages blank. In manuscript hand on verso: "Conference with Bishops".
