Summary:	Two letters to Daniel O'Connell from County Limerick parish priest Patrick O'Brien Davern, addressing, amongst other things, the issues of tithes and the threat of arrest and jailing of those individuals who chose to deliberately or unwittingly not pay their tithes; a law known as "... a writ of contempt, or of rebellion..." First line of first republished letter reads: 'Sir, at the close of a Session of Parliament in which interests as dear to Ireland as any she ever suffered or bled for were discussed, it will not be considered presumptious that a poor priest from the hill of Knockany should offer you , and, through you his fellow countrymen, a few observations.' First line of second republished letter reads: 'Sir, the first court into which the Protestant clergy took the people of Ireland, to enforce payment of tithes was the court of Quarter Sessions.
